Sofa Beds for Christmas Guests: Plan Your Sleeping Space Now
By Alex at SOFGO ·

Christmas has a way of filling a house. If you are hosting this year, now is a good time to plan where everyone will sleep, while there is still time to measure, compare and order without a last-minute rush.
Prices and details below were checked on live SOFGO product pages on 6 October 2026.
A note on the photos. The pictures show corner sofas from our Exclusive Designer Collection, taken from each sofa's own product page. They are fixed corner sofas, not sofa beds, and they are made to order with a 12–15 week lead time. Every sofa bed we mention is named in the text and linked to its own page.
Count the beds you really need
Before you look at any sofa, write down who is actually staying, and for how many nights. It is easy to plan for "a few people" and end up a bed short on Christmas Eve.
- List every overnight guest by name. Note couples, children, and anyone who needs a proper bed, such as older relatives or someone with a bad back.
- Count nights, not just people. Longer stays deserve the most comfortable spot and a bit of privacy.
- Match people to spaces. Children often happily share; two adults want a bed for two. A sofa bed described as having a "pull-out sleeping area for two adults" covers a couple.
- Check the gaps. If the spare room is taken, a living room, snug, dining room or home office can become a bedroom for a few nights.
If you are hosting Christmas in a small house, a sofa bed is often what makes it work. Aim for one proper sleeping space per couple or adult guest, with nobody on the floor.
Where a sofa bed works best
A sofa bed earns its place in a room that is a sitting room most of the year and a bedroom for a few nights. The best spots share a few things:
- Space in front. When it is open, the bed needs clear floor in front of the sofa plus a walkway to the door. Measure with the coffee table moved; our guide on how to measure a room for a corner sofa walks through it.
- A door that closes. A living room with a door, or a snug, works better than an open-plan space everyone walks through at 7am.
- Somewhere near a bathroom, with curtains or blinds that block the light and a socket for phones and a lamp.
Corner sofa beds suit living rooms well: everyday seating for the family and a bed when you need it. Choose the corner side to suit the room's door and window positions; our guide to left or right hand corner sofas explains how to tell. If the sofa will be used every day as well as for guests, read our guide to a corner sofa bed for everyday use. For a spare room or home office, see how to choose a sofa bed for a guest room.

Sleeping area sizes explained
The listed sofa size tells you how much floor it takes up; the sleeping area tells you how well your guests will sleep. Not every product page lists both.
For reference, a standard UK single mattress is 90 × 190 cm, a small double is 120 × 190 cm and a standard double is 135 × 190 cm. Compare these with what each page lists, and with the height of your tallest guest.
| Sofa bed | Price | Listed size | What the page lists for sleeping |
|---|---|---|---|
| Goldcrest Mini M04 | £699 | 235 × 150 × 91 cm | Sleeping area 218 × 130 cm |
| Linden Bay M99 | £779 | 213 × 132 cm | Sleeping area 168 × 132 cm |
| Fairhaven M84 | £1,199 | 275 cm wide, 205 cm deep, 87 cm high | Sleeping area 123 cm wide, 193 cm long |
| Verity M84 | £779 | 222 × 133 × 72 cm | Not listed; pull-out sleeping area for two adults |
| Goldcrest K19 | £799 | 260 cm wide, 150 cm chaise, 86 cm high | Not listed; sofa bed seat width 128 cm |
| U Shape Goldcrest | £999 | 352 × 152 × 76 cm | Not listed; "extends into a generous double bed" |
Normal prices and listed sizes from the live product pages, 6 October 2026. Easy Clean is a fixed £199 upgrade on each.
A few things to read into those numbers:
- Length matters most for adults. Fairhaven M84 lists its sleeping area as 123 cm wide and 193 cm long: a standard mattress length and a touch wider than a small double.
- Check both numbers. Goldcrest Mini M04 (218 × 130 cm) and Linden Bay M99 (168 × 132 cm) list a sleeping area without saying which way it runs, so check both figures against your tallest guest, or ask us.
- Seat width is not sleeping area. Where a page gives only a seat width, as Goldcrest K19 and U Shape Goldcrest do, message our team for the open size before you plan around it.
If you are unsure how the bed opens, our comparison of click-clack vs pull-out vs electric sofa beds explains each mechanism.
Storage for spare bedding
A sofa bed with storage keeps guest bedding in the same footprint for the rest of the year.
Verity M84, Goldcrest K19, Fairhaven M84, Linden Bay M99 and Goldcrest Mini M04 all list a full-width storage compartment under the seat. The U Shape Goldcrest lists two storage compartments under the seat bases. Only the Goldcrest Mini page gives the compartment size: 130 × 90 × 41 cm. For a compact option, see our guide to a small corner sofa bed with storage; for the bigger family layout, our guide to the U-shaped corner sofa bed with storage.
What to keep in there:
- A full guest set: fitted sheet, duvet, duvet cover and two pillows, so the bed can be made in minutes.
- A rolled topper and a spare blanket for cold nights.
Store bedding clean and fully dry, in breathable cotton bags rather than sealed plastic, and air it a day or two before guests arrive. Don't overfill the compartment, so the lid closes easily.
Timing: lead times before Christmas
Every SOFGO product page shows its own delivery window; plan around that.
As of 6 October 2026:
- Verity M84, Goldcrest K19, Fairhaven M84, Linden Bay M99 and U Shape Goldcrest are shown as in stock on their product pages. Check the window on the page you order from.
- Goldcrest Mini M04 shows "Delivery in 2–5 weeks".
- Exclusive Designer Collection corners, like the sofas in our photos, show "Made to order — 12–15 weeks". There are fewer than 12 weeks between early October and Christmas Day, so if a sofa must be in place for your guests, choose a model shown as in stock, or message our team before you order.
You can browse what is in stock today on our in-stock page or see all corner sofa beds with storage.
Before you order, measure doors, hallways and stairs with our guide to whether a corner sofa will fit through your door. Delivery is free to most of mainland UK, to your door or with free assembly in the room you choose and the packaging taken away; some postcodes and upper floors without a lift carry a charge, listed on each product page. We text you a delivery date and a two-hour window, and you have 14 days from delivery to request a return.
Aim to have it in place well before guests arrive, so you can test-open it and sort the room without pressure.

A guest-ready checklist
Work through this a week or so before guests arrive, then again the day before.
- Test-open the sofa bed and close it again, so you know the mechanism.
- Check the open bed against the room with the coffee table moved, leaving a clear path to the door.
- Wash and air the bedding, and make the bed up once to check everything fits.
- Add a topper if you have one, and two pillows per guest.
- Sort the light. Close curtains or blinds properly, and leave a lamp within reach of the bed.
- Give guests somewhere to put things: a chair or a basket for clothes and a charger.
- Agree the morning routine, so everyone knows when the living room goes back to being a living room.
- Keep the bathroom stocked with spare towels.
FAQs
What is the best sofa bed for Christmas guests?
For two adults, look for a listed sleeping area close to a small double (120 × 190 cm) or larger, with storage for bedding. If you need it before Christmas, choose a model shown as in stock on its product page.
Will a sofa bed arrive before Christmas?
That depends on the delivery window shown on the product page. Several of our corner sofa beds with storage are shown as in stock; made-to-order Exclusive sofas show 12–15 weeks, which runs past Christmas when ordered now. Check the window on the page before you order.
Are sofa beds comfortable enough for adults?
Most of our corner sofa bed pages describe a pull-out sleeping area for two adults; the U Shape Goldcrest says it "extends into a generous double bed". Check the listed sleeping length against your guests' height, and add a topper for a softer feel.
How much space does an open sofa bed need?
The sofa's footprint plus the pull-out section and a walkway. If a page does not list the open size, ask us before you order.
Where should I keep spare bedding?
In the storage compartment under the seat, clean, dry and in breathable bags.
Can I spread the cost?
Each product page lists its own ways to pay. Verity M84, Goldcrest K19, U Shape Goldcrest, Fairhaven M84 and Linden Bay M99 list debit or credit card, Klarna, Clearpay and pay on delivery (cash or bank transfer). Goldcrest Mini M04 lists card, Klarna and Clearpay. Klarna and Clearpay are subject to eligibility and status, and paying with them is borrowing.
