Corner Sofa Beds for Everyday Use: What to Look For

By Alex at SOFGO ·

Cream Bayfield chaise corner sofa from the Exclusive Designer Collection in a living room with an arched wall niche
Bayfield Chaise Corner Sofa, £1,999 (view product). From our Exclusive Designer Collection: a fixed corner sofa, not a sofa bed, with no bed function or storage listed on the page. Durable performance weave with deep high-resilience foam seating; you choose a left or right corner. Listed at 330 × 205 × 75 cm. Made to order, delivery 12–15 weeks. £2,198 with Easy Clean.

A corner sofa bed that earns its keep every day has two jobs: comfortable seating from morning to evening, and a sleeping surface you can live with when the bed is in regular use. Guest-only sofas can get away with a firmer fold-out. Everyday use needs more attention to the frame, the foam, the sleeping area and how quickly you can convert it without clearing half the room.

This guide sets out what to check before you buy, then picks SOFGO models whose live product pages match that checklist. Normal prices below were re-checked on the live pages on 6 October 2026; sizes were checked on 2 October 2026.

A note on the photos. The pictures in this guide show corner sofas from our Exclusive Designer Collection: made to order, delivery 12–15 weeks, and fixed corner sofas, not sofa beds. They have no bed mechanism, so they are here as real examples of everyday seating. Every sofa bed we recommend is named in the text and linked to its own product page.

Sitting every day vs sleeping every night

Sitting comfort and sleeping comfort pull in slightly different directions.

For daytime use, look at seat depth, seat height, back support and whether you want a chaise. A deeper seat suits lounging; a slightly higher seat is easier if you get up often. Scatter cushions help you tune the back, but they are not a substitute for a supportive seat pad.

For overnight use, the checklist changes:

  • Sleeping area size on the product page (where listed). A UK small double is about 120 × 190 cm; a standard double is 135 × 190 cm.
  • How flat and even the surface is once open. A join between seat and back, or seat and pull-out section, is normal. A mattress topper softens it if you want.
  • How often you will convert it. Every-night use favours a mechanism you can open without moving heavy furniture, plus storage so bedding is not stacked on a chair.

If the bed is occasional and the sofa is the main seat, prioritise daytime feel and room fit. If someone will sleep on it most nights, reverse that order: sleeping area and storage first, then sitting comfort.

Frame, springs and foam: what to check

Product pages rarely spell out every construction detail, so read the wording that is there and treat missing lines as questions for us rather than assumptions.

On the SOFGO pages we checked for this article:

  • High-resilience foam with a softer comfort layer appears in the body copy for Fairhaven, Goldcrest K19, Fairhaven Long and the U Shape Goldcrest. That combination is aimed at everyday sitting: support underneath, a softer top so the seat does not feel board-hard.
  • Hardwood-braced frame is stated on the Goldcrest K19 and Fairhaven Long pages. Fairhaven M84 notes a 12-month frame guarantee.
  • Serpentine spring base is stated on the U Shape Goldcrest page — springs under the cushions to spread weight and reduce sagging in the middle over time.

What to ask yourself (and us, if the page is silent):

  1. Will the same people sit in the same places every evening? Even foam benefits from rotating and plumping seat cushions.
  2. Will pets or children share the sofa? Easy Clean is a fixed £199 upgrade where offered — a water- and pet-resistant weave that wipes clean.
  3. Is the frame guarantee listed? Fairhaven M84 states 12 months; check other pages individually.

We will not invent pocket-spring mattresses or multi-year guarantees that are not on the live page.

Cream Kilnwood modular corner sofa from the Exclusive Designer Collection in a bright living room with garden doors
Kilnwood Modular Corner Sofa, £2,199 (view product). From our Exclusive Designer Collection: a fixed corner sofa, not a sofa bed. Shown as an example of everyday seating: the page lists a hardwood frame with high-resilience foam and a softer comfort layer on top. Listed at 320 × 190 × 74 cm. Made to order, delivery 12–15 weeks. £2,398 with Easy Clean.

Sleeping area sizes

Always prefer the sleeping area measurement over the sofa’s overall width. Overall size tells you whether the piece fits the wall; sleeping area tells you whether two adults can lie down without hanging off the edge.

Model Price Assembled size (as listed) Sleeping area (if listed)
Goldcrest K19 £799 260 cm wide, 150 cm chaise, 91 cm depth, 86 cm high — (page lists pull-out for two adults)
U Shape Goldcrest £999 352 × 152 × 76 cm — (not listed as a sleeping-area pair)
Fairhaven M84 £1,199 275 × 205 × 87 cm 123 × 193 cm
Fairhaven Long S21 (Right Corner Only) £1,299 345 × 205 × 98 cm — (sofa-bed seat width listed at 195 cm; chaise width 120 cm)

Normal prices re-checked on the live product pages on 6 October 2026; sizes as checked on 2 October 2026. Where a sleeping-area measurement is not listed, message us rather than guessing.

Fairhaven M84’s listed 123 × 193 cm is roughly a UK small double — a practical everyday size for one adult, or two who do not need a full double. For more on mechanisms and open footprints, see click-clack vs pull-out vs electric sofa beds.

Mechanism and daily conversion

If you open the bed most nights, the conversion should be quick and predictable.

Many SOFGO corner sofa bed pages — including Fairhaven M84, Goldcrest K19 and Fairhaven Long S21 — list both “Click-clack mechanism opens in seconds” and “Pull-out sleeping area for two adults”. We quote that wording as it appears; we do not invent which action is the main one. If you need a walkthrough for a specific model, message us with the product name.

Practical points for daily conversion:

  • Floor space in front. Pull-out sleeping areas need clear floor where the bed extends. Plan where the coffee table goes overnight.
  • Space behind. Click-clack-style opening often needs a little gap so the back can drop — the sofa may need to come slightly away from the wall.
  • Weight and effort. Convert it yourself in the showroom of your mind: if two of you struggle with a heavy action, every-night use will feel like a chore.
  • U Shape Goldcrest. That page does not list the click-clack or pull-out feature lines used on the L-shaped models above. It is sold as a U-shaped corner sofa bed with two storage compartments; ask us how that particular bed opens if daily conversion matters.

Storage for bedding

Everyday bed use means everyday bedding. A duvet, pillows and a fitted sheet need a home that is not the floor.

On the pages we checked:

  • Fairhaven M84, Goldcrest K19 and Fairhaven Long list a full-width storage compartment under the seat.
  • The U Shape Goldcrest lists two storage compartments under the seat bases — useful when two people sleep regularly and you want bedding split by person or season.

Keep storage dry and clear. Bedding belongs there; damp towels do not. Lift lids carefully and leave space above the chaise when the lid opens. For a wider round-up of storage corners, see corner sofa beds with storage from £699.

Pale grey Cardean chaise corner sofa from the Exclusive Designer Collection in a bright living room with a garden view

Soft-touch woven upholstery on a hardwood frame; left or right corner. Listed at 330 × 190 × 74 cm. Made to order, delivery 12–15 weeks. £2,398 with Easy Clean.

Our picks for daily use

These four are the sofa beds we would look at first, with normal prices re-checked live on 6 October 2026. Choose by room size and how often the bed is used — not only by price.

Goldcrest K19 — £799 (Easy Clean £998)
Best value starting point for everyday sitting with guest or spare-bed use. Hardwood-braced frame and high-resilience foam in the page copy; reversible corner; full-width storage; click-clack and pull-out feature lines. Overall width 260 cm with a 150 cm chaise. Sleeping-area centimetres are not listed — the page says pull-out for two adults.

U Shape Goldcrest — £999 (Easy Clean £1,198)
For open-plan rooms that seat more people every day. 352 cm wide, 152 cm deep, with a serpentine spring base and two storage compartments. Confirm the bed-opening action with us before you rely on it every night.

Fairhaven M84 — £1,199 (Easy Clean £1,398)
The clearest “daily life” pick when you want a listed sleeping area: 123 × 193 cm, overall 275 × 205 × 87 cm, reversible corner, full-width storage, and a 12-month frame guarantee on the page. High-resilience foam with a comfort layer in the description.

Fairhaven Long S21 (Right Corner Only) — £1,299 (Easy Clean £1,498)
For a long wall: 345 cm wide and 205 cm deep. Same click-clack and pull-out feature lines, full-width storage, hardwood-braced frame wording. Fixed right-hand corner only — check your room before ordering. Sleeping-area width × length is not listed as a pair; sofa-bed seat width is listed at 195 cm.

Olive green Darnley chaise corner sofa from the Exclusive Designer Collection in a living room with garden doors
Darnley Chaise Corner Sofa, £2,399 (view product). From our Exclusive Designer Collection: a fixed corner sofa, not a sofa bed. Easy-care leather-look upholstery with every cushion filled with resilient foam wrapped in a fibre topper. Listed at 330 × 195 × 73 cm. Made to order, delivery 12–15 weeks. £2,598 with Easy Clean.

Where the Exclusive range fits

The corners pictured in this guide come from our Exclusive Designer Collection. Those are fixed corner sofas with no bed and no under-seat storage listed, so they suit someone who wants a designer sofa for daily sitting and has a separate bed for guests. They are made to order, with delivery shown as 12–15 weeks, and the ones pictured here run from £1,999 to £2,399 (Bayfield, Kilnwood, Cardean and Darnley; Easy Clean is a fixed £199 more). On the Exclusive pages we checked, Klarna is the instalment option shown at checkout, subject to eligibility and status.

If you need the sofa to turn into a bed most nights, stay with the sofa bed models above: the Exclusive pieces will not do that.

FAQs

Are corner sofa beds comfortable for everyday sitting?

They can be, when the seat pads and frame match daily use. SOFGO pages for the models above describe high-resilience foam with a softer comfort layer; the U Shape Goldcrest also mentions a serpentine spring base. Sit depth and height still matter — check the measurements on the product page.

Can you sleep on a sofa bed every night?

Some households do. Prioritise a sleeping area that suits the people using it, a surface that lies reasonably flat, storage for bedding, and a conversion you will actually do every evening. A mattress topper helps if you want a softer feel.

What is the best corner sofa bed for everyday use in the UK?

There is no single best model — it depends on room size and how often the bed is used. For a listed sleeping area and reversible corner, Fairhaven M84 at £1,199 is a strong everyday pick. For a tighter budget, Goldcrest K19 at £799 covers daily sitting with storage. For more seating width, look at Fairhaven Long or the U Shape Goldcrest.

Do I need Easy Clean for everyday use?

Not always. Standard soft-touch fabric is fine for light use. If pets, children or frequent spills are part of daily life, Easy Clean is a fixed £199 upgrade where the product page offers it — water- and pet-resistant weave that wipes clean.

Is storage worth it if I use the bed every night?

Yes. Everyday bed use means bedding stays in the room. Full-width under-seat storage (or two compartments on the U Shape Goldcrest) keeps duvets and pillows out of the way when the sofa is in daytime mode.

Is delivery and assembly free?

Free UK mainland delivery is included. At checkout you can choose free delivery to the door, or free delivery plus assembly in the room you choose with packaging removed. We don't deliver to Northern Ireland, the Scottish islands, Caithness and the far north of Scotland (KW postcodes), the Isle of Wight, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands or the Isles of Scilly.
